Explorers sessions are for Home Educated/Wild-schooled children 6-16 years old and parent/carers

Wild-Schooled Sessions

At The Wilderness Grove, our Wild-Schooled groups are designed as long-term Forest School programmes rather than drop-in sessions. This allows children and families to build relationships, friendships and support networks that are so valuable within the home education community.

A child-led approach and relaxed environment allow children to learn at their own pace and follow their interests. They may choose to learn through play, exploring the equipment, trails and discoveries scattered throughout the woodland to spark their imagination. These include a mud kitchen, water play, dens, hammocks, woodland creatures and much more.

Children can also explore and develop practical woodland skills such as bushcraft, survival skills, carving, fire lighting and den building.

Our experienced Forest School Leaders use observation and reflection to adapt sessions to suit each individual. Planned activities provide opportunities to stimulate curiosity, encourage learning and develop valuable life skills.

For children aged 6–16 years

Prices

If you are new to the Explorers group and would like to try Forest School, you can book an introductory session.

Individual session: £10 per child
Siblings: £9 per additional child

Forest School is intended to be a long-term process, supporting children to build confidence and guide their learning through a meaningful connection with nature.

Booking

Sessions are booked in half-term blocks. If you are unable to attend, we ask for 7 days’ notice so we can adjust your account accordingly. If a session needs to be cancelled by us, it will not be charged.

We use the Famly platform for invoicing, communication with parents and carers, and to share observations from sessions.

Wild-Schooled groups are generally organised by age, although we aim to remain flexible to support home-educating families with children across different age ranges. 🌿

Our Explorers and Adventurers sessions follow a similar structure and cater for comparable age groups. However, as the groups grow and develop over time, each forms its own unique community and peer dynamic.
